Two paths, one purpose: From Nepal and Angola to global impact

Connected by purpose: The power of the Pestalozzi International alumni network

One inspiring outcome of the merger between Pestalozzi World and the Pestalozzi International Foundation has been the connection of Future Leaders from across the globe. Aman, from Nepal, received a Pestalozzi International Foundation scholarship to study at UWC Atlantic in Wales, while Elijah, from Angola, studied at the Pestalozzi Education Centre in Zambia. Today, they are roommates and classmates at Northwestern University in the United States. In addition, they had both previously been selected to take part in the Yale Young Global Scholars programme.

I have always believed that education is a powerful tool that has the potential to transform lives. As I reflect on my own educational journey, I am immensely grateful for the opportunities that brought me to where I am today. Now, it's my turn to pay it forward!

Driven by a deep desire to give back, Aman has already begun creating lasting change in his home village of Kachorwa. In the summer of 2024, he and a fellow student received a $2,000 grant for their H2Ope to Kachorwa project. Together, with the help of friends from UWC, they installed four vital hand pumps bringing clean, safe water to a village of 580 people.

Aman shared, "This project provided clean water to underserved communities, an achievement that filled me with immense pride and a renewed sense of purpose.”

Building on this momentum, Aman returned to Nepal in the summer of 2025 with a £10,000 grant from UWC Atlantic’s Lighthouse entrepreneurial hub to launch the Kachorwa Digital Knowledge Hub. Located in a remote part of Nepal, the hub provides access to computers, internet, and digital literacy training to bridge the digital divide. It supports students in continuing their education, enables farmers to access modern tools and market data, and offers women and marginalized groups the skills needed for new job opportunities.
Though still undergoing its final touches, the hub is already making a tangible impact, unlocking education, opportunity, and empowerment in the community.
