Where potential meets purpose

A long-term leadership pathway so young people lead with integrity, skill and purpose.

Future Leaders Programme

In parts of rural Zambia, only 1 in 33 young people complete secondary school. Even the brightest children rarely have the opportunity to combine their lived experience with the knowledge, ambition and skills required to lead change.

A transformational education for our future leaders

Future Leaders is a long-term leadership pathway for exceptional young people selected at age 11 for ability and character. Over 7 to 8 years, students move through structured stages that build academic excellence, ethical grounding, resilience and practical leadership capability. Education is the foundation - leadership is the purpose.

What Makes Future Leaders Different?

Future Leaders moves beyond scholarship provision. It is an intentional leadership formation model that builds agency, systems literacy and applied capability. Students graduate having designed and delivered real projects with responsibility, budgets and public accountability. Leadership is funded, supervised and publicly demonstrated before graduation.

Who we select

We identify exceptional young people from rural and marginalised communities who demonstrate talent, determination and leadership potential. Selection is rigorous and merit-based. Students are chosen for ability, character and a commitment to contribute to others. We invest in those who understand their communities’ challenges first-hand and are ready to shape their futures with purpose.

Our Unique Approach

The method by which we teach is grounded in our emphasis on the Head, Heart and Hands. Head: Critical thinking, academic excellence and systems understanding. Heart: Ethical grounding, resilience, compassion and leadership identity. Hands: Practical skills and real-world action through applied leadership projects. Leadership is not theoretical. It is practiced, measured and demonstrated.

Growing up in a refugee camp, I faced many challenges. Thanks to Pestalozzi International, I am now an Engineering student and Bezos African Scholar. I want to give back to my community through the power of engineering to create sustainable solutions to the problems they face.

The Future Leaders Programme inspires success

"Pestalozzi was a central stepping stone for me. The passion I have for the environment and leadership was very much strengthened there."

Samikshya set out from Nepal to acquire degrees in environmental studies and urban and regional planning. Currently she earns practical experience as a Clean Energy and Climate Planning Intern in the city of Boston. She wants to keep fighting for a more equitable world, driven by her commitment to serve marginalized communities affected by climate change.
